We would never have dreamed that the Little Lemon Tree would one day become a small hotel.
In the first years, there were four rooms to rent.
Meanwhile, the Little Lemon Tree offers eleven double rooms of different categories, all with their own shower bathroom en-suite and a bar fridge, plus a terrace or balcony. Even the smaller rooms offer a place in the fresh air.
The soul of the house is clearly the densely grown tropical garden with countless nooks and crannies and a small pool. Relaxation is a must for us.
When I left my place of birth Düsseldorf, Germany in 1996, I didn't have any concrete plans yet.
I hoped to open a small guesthouse, which would also become my new home.
Now I am a curious person, I love individual and cultural diversity and I have always had the need to connect people with one another. So I came up with the idea of serving breakfast for all guests at a large table and hoped to establish a connection between them. I would sit down with my guests and stimulate the conversation a little.
It worked out great!
Our guests can be themselves, feel a bit like being at home (only with better weather) and countless friendships have developed over the years.
This is very important to me and I am proud of it.
Then came the tough years and we overcame them only by changing the concept and are renting our rooms on self-catering and self-cleaning basis for long-term stays. It feels like a little community and now our guests and tenants also have more time to nurture the friendships they have found here.
I am South African and have been working with Ralf for (what feels like) 279 years. I practically expanded the Little Lemon Tree with my own hands, because if there's one thing I can do, then it's building things.
My great passion, however, is to create magic in the garden. All the creations, such as statues, mosaics and mobilés that you see scattered all over the place, I have personally designed and built.
When Ralf picked me up from the roadside about thirteen years ago, he didn't know that I would soon wrap him completely around my little paw.
My hobbies are playing, playing and I think..... playing. If you throw me the ball nicely and non-stop, I'll be your friend forever.
Update: I always had a big heart which sadly became too big for my little body. But I will watch you from wherever I am now, don't worry...
R.I.P. 23.12.2024 🖤
I am just sweet and love you all. Growing up, on the other hand, is not my forte really.
If we all took ourselves not so seriously, there would be a lot more to laugh about.
